1. Purpose of the tool

The Custom Item tool is a powerful feature that allows users to create, introduce, and distribute company-specific scaffolding components or other required shapes within the system. Key functionalities include:

• Component Creation: Users can develop custom components from scratch using native Tekla objects or based on provided component templates via the Insert Item Template Tool. Additionally, components can be imported and converted into Custom Items from various file formats, including skp,ifc,igs, and obj.
• Modification of Existing Components: The tool enables users to create a new component based on any existing scaffolding component by adjusting its length or other properties to meet specific requirements.
• Storage and Distribution: Created components can be assigned to a specific scaffolding system or placed in a common placeholder for use across all systems. Users also have the option to delete or export components, providing flexibility in component storage and distribution.
• Integration with Item Tool: Company-specific components created using the Custom Item Tool are available in the Item Tool, allowing users to leverage the full capabilities of the Item Tool with their custom components.

2. User Interface overview.

The tool is located on the ScaffPlan Tools Toolbar.

To open the tool menu please double click on the tool.
The tool contains following features:

No.	BUTTON	FUNCTIONALITY
	Add a new Custom Item	Adds a new Custom Item from an object(s) selected in the model. Add a new Custom Item button clicked Creation dialogue appears: System drop down allows to choose where the item will be added to  - to the current system set in the Project Info tool to make it the system specific item or to Common category to make the item widely available across all scaffold systems. Shape name field allows to specify component's Name by typing then to be reflected in the Gear list. Code field allows to specify component's Code to be added and to be reflected in the Gear list. Weight field allows to specify component's Weight to be added and to be reflected in the Gear list. Material drop down allows to specify component's Material to be added. Mark field allows to specify component's Mark to be added and to be reflected in the Gear list. The Add button allows to add the custom component selected in the model to ScaffPlan catalogue. 2 insertions points to be clicked for the component to be added into catalogue. This points will be used as insertion points for the component using Item tool.
	Import Miscellaneous Items	Imports miscellaneous Custom Items from the list provided by ScaffPlan Team
	Import a Custom Item	Imports ScaffBlock(s) provided as .psi file (Custom Item file format)
	Export a Custom Item	Exports a currently shown Custom Item to a .psi file then used for import. If Shift is being help the Custom item tool will allow to export selected components to a single file.
	Delete a Custom Item	Deletes selected Custom Items from the catalogue removing it from the Firm folder and/or removes inserted Custom Item from the Model deleting them and from the Model folder.

Data Tab allows you to search for specific references in the Table and report all recorded information of the Custom Item input at its creation.  It then lists all of the Customs Items included in the project

Defining a System during the Custom Item creation will only allow it to be used with that specific system.  Setting the System as Common allows it to be used for ALL systems 

The Preview allows to visually see a block and rotate the view if the left mouse button is being pressed. 

Preview is loaded automatically if ScaffBlock file is less than 50 MB. Otherwise, load the preview manually by clicking  “Load preview” button.

2. Tool dialogue buttons

		Opens ScaffPlan knowledge base articles on the tool usage.
		Closes the tool menu without saving the properties or modifying objects.
