1. Purpose of the tool
The Tube and Clip tool can now be used for any scenario, allowing users to form scaffold legs by clicking two points in the model (independent 2-point insertion) or to add tubes and fittings over existing legs or other tubes (component-dependent insertion by selecting 2 items).
-
ScaffPlan Toolbar: provides quick control options during insertion, this allows users to define:
- Input type (by two points for legs or by two components)
- Coupler types at the ends
- Tube lengths automatically suited to the scenario or selected from a catalogue
- Direction of tube and fittings insertion (perpendicular to selected components or free placement for braces)
2. User Interface overview
The tool is located on the ScaffPlan Tools Toolbar.

To open the tool menu please double click on the tool.
The tool contains following features:

Input type Tab the Tube and Clip tool offers two types of input for creating tube scaffold components.
- Two Items: In this method, you can add tubes and fittings onto existing scaffold items by selecting two system or tube components in the model. This allows for more complex scaffolding configurations by building upon existing structures.
- Two-Points: This method allows you to form tube lengths by clicking two points directly in the model. This is useful for creating vertical supports or legs.

Depending on the Input type selected the dialogue will change showing only the options available to the user for that method of insertion
Component settings Tab (Two items) this method focuses more on using existing items in the model for placement of tube and fitting components, this is predominantly used for transoms, ledgers and bracing
- Rotation: is disabled by default for non-collinear inputs.
- Joiner type: users can choose from an Internal or External tube connector
-
Additional Joiners Location: this allows greater flexibility when extending or creating new tubes, options available are;
- None
- Start
- End
- Both
- Tube lengths: when creating scaffold legs, you can specify the tube lengths to ensure they fit your design requirements from the offset. Tube Lengths can quickly identify from the List button and differing values or multiples can be set using standard symbols. For example, you can enter 6, 3 for 9m arrangement or 2*6 for a 12m length incorporating the internal joiner parameter where applicable. Non-standard lengths will give a warning!
- Fixed end: users can choose from Start or End placement where a fixed value of tube will extend from the coupler, this is useful to prevent the tube clashing with other items or the building
- Fixed distance: this is the value the tube extends through the coupler from the designated Fixed end point (Start/End)

Component settings Tab (Two points) this method focuses more on individual placement and point references this is predominantly used for placing vertical standards or uprights
- Joiner type: users can choose from an Internal or External tube connector
-

End 1 & 2 coupler users can specify the exact coupler type from the list below for the item use, these can be identical or mixed, options can also be saved away for future use using specific parameters for each application. The options available are:
-
End 1 & End 2 coupler:
- None
- Band and Plate Coupler
- Double Coupler
- Putlock Coupler
- Swivel coupler

FUNCTIONALITY |
|
To save a current tool setting it is required to type name of the setting into the box and click Save button. To load previously saved settings please click on the box to drop down a list of setting s available then choose a desired setting. Once the setting clicked from the drop-down it will be automatically loaded, and dialogue boxes updated to values saved under the setting. |
|
|
Opens ScaffPlan knowledge base articles on the tool usage. |
|
|
Prompts to create tube and fitting component based on parameters set in the tool menu. |
|
|
Saves values set in the dialogue boxes without closing the dialog box. ScaffPlan uses these properties the next time you create an object of this type. |
|
|
Modifies the selected ScaffBlock using the current properties of the dialog box such Type, Subtype, Name etc. as set in the tool. |
|
|
Gets properties from the selected components in the model and fills the menu with the values of the component. If several components are being selected, ScaffPlan takes the values from the first one selected and updates the dialogue boxes. |
|
|
Switches all check boxes in the dialog box on and off. Used when all boxes need to be unticked then some only need to be ticked (taken into effect) once the Modify button is pressed after. |
|
